The essence of personality as an influencing tool in organization behavior is that employees possess stable personality characteristics that influence their attitudes and reactions toward their organizational setting. Usually, behavior is consistent with personality traits and attitudes over time and across a variety of situations. In organizational behavior, managers have a strong belief in the power of personality to predict the behavior of the employees working for them. As such, it has become a barometer for hiring and headhunting as they would seek out those whose personality could fit in the mold of the company. When resistance strikes, the organization begins to crumble down and your identity as a whole becomes lost - what remains is a hodgepodge of different individuals all refusing to open up to the ideas and feelings of others. But when everyone strives towards cooperation and integration, you not only gain an identity as a group of people all working together - you also begin to see the different talents, traits and skills that each person possesses that contribute to the greatness of your organizational effectivity.

In sum, the study of the personality is the backbone of organizational behavior and human performance. Without the study of personality, we would not know where to pinpoint the reasons behind tardiness, office coalitions, ineffective management strategies, to name a few of the problems that human resource people try to solve in their places of work. These recurring problems plague organizational managers day in and day out, so a study in personality will really help solve most - if not all - of these problems that they face in organizational management.
